Sophie Mckie
First Steps Bridal was founded by Sophie Mckie — an award-winning choreographer, seasoned dance teacher, and passionate advocate for making wedding dances feel effortless and enjoyable.
With over 15 years of experience in the dance industry, Sophie has choreographed for musical theatre productions, council and government events, and hundreds of successful competition routines. Her work has earned prestigious accolades, but it's the joy of helping real couples that sparked something new.
It all began when a close friend panicked about her first dance. Sophie stepped in, offering calm, one-on-one guidance — and quickly realized how many couples were craving a more relaxed, personal approach to learning their wedding dance. From there, First Steps Bridal was born.
Nearly a decade later, Sophie has helped over 200 couples across the Hunter region take the floor with confidence, connection, and zero stress.
With training both in Australia and abroad, Sophie blends her deep dance knowledge with a warm, supportive teaching style — making your first steps as a married couple not just beautiful, but unforgettable.
